How To Create A Love Nest In Your Home

Perhaps you have just moved in with your other half, or have maybe decided to tweak your décor to make it more romantic, or maybe you have come across the best weed killer in the uk and want it badly to keep your garden from going into a disarray.

Either way, it is probably much easier than you think to turn a cold and dull home into a warm and loving area to relax in. Whether you are looking to transform your entire house, or just a room or two that you can escape to, with just a few additions and changes you can create a lovely romantic space. Hello Sofas shows you how:

Flowers & Candles
Simple and natural touches can help create a simple yet romantic feel in any room. Pick some flowers from your garden once a week, or even add some to your shopping basket whenever you do your groceries. Another nice idea is to fill a bowl with water and choose a large flower such as a magnolia to float delicately in the middle. Flowers really bring life into the home.

Candles also have a lovely, warm and calming effect. When you get home from work simply scatter a few tea candles around your room and let them bring a gentle glow while you relax and rewind.

Everyone has furniture in their house, but the trick is to make the items you have as soft and curved as possible. Choose rounded tables and use warm coloured table clothes with chairs that are cushioned with luxurious fabrics.

Choose a well cushioned sofa, or if your current sofa needs an update just scatter cushions across it. A velvet sofa will add beautifully to the romantic feel and once you sit down you will never want to get up again. If your sofa needs a spring clean then buy some soft and silky throws to give it a new lease of life and snuggle down in front of the TV.

One of the easiest ways to make a room feel romantic is by adjusting the lighting. As we have already mentioned, candles are a great idea, but if you are looking for a more permanent solution then you could invest in something more extravagant such as a chandelier for that tranquil effect and also think about installing a dimmer switch so that the level of lighting is in your hands.

Colour Theme
One of the biggest impacts you can make in your home is with your colour scheme. When you think of romance, you are usually directed towards red, but other colours such as purples, pinks and even gold can still create a spellbinding effect on your room.

There are many different options when it comes to your colour scheme, with painting, you could change your walls, your ceiling, or even your floors. You could even introduce a colour scheme into your furnishing or simply use accessories such as vases and picture frames to get the desired effect.

It’s not just the interior of your home that can be made to feel romantic, your garden is important too. A simple addition such as a hot tub will transform your home into a luxurious place to be.

Hot tubs are probably not as expensive as you may imagine, but if you are looking for something a little cheaper then why not consider a bench swing? That way when the sun is going down behind the trees, you and your other half can sit and chat about the days you have had while you sit and breathe in the natural beauty around you.

On My Radar: Happy Chic by Jonathan Adler

It’s no secret that I’m a huge Jonathan Adler fan – huge! – so I was super excited when I learned about he’s newest project.

In an effort to bring a fresh, vibrant new look to the brand, J.C. Penney’s has teamed up with the iconic designer for a new 400 piece collection. Characterized by Jonathan Adler’s signature colorful pieces, bold patterns and a modern playful aesthetic, the collaboration includes furnishings, bedding, home accessories (including his trademark animal ceramics), rugs, lighting, bath and window treatments.

While some of the big furniture pieces have a high price tag, you can definitely get JA’s look for less!  Here are are some of my favorite items from the current collection.

Layers of Meaning: On My Radar - Happy Chic by Jonathan Adler

Crescent Heights Tufted Sofa // Sahara Ceramic Vase // Bleecker Leather Chair
Tray With Handles // Owl Accent Lamp // Foo Dog Lamp // Bleecker Cabinet
Charlotte Pouf // Crescent Console //  Crescent Queen Bed // Blue Outdoor Pillow

Loving: High Gloss Bedside Tables

I’ve been hoping to upgrade our bedside table for a while now. I love our current ones – I specially like the white coral drawer pulls, they provide a great visual statement but unfortunately, they are just too small. I’ve been looking for something to complement the rest of the room, something sleek and modern but functional and practical at the same time.
I recently found two gorgeous bedside tables that offer a high gloss/lacquer finish and plenty of space. The design of both tables is both contemporary and chic while offering valuable storage space. Ideally, I would select the one with two drawers but I can’t keep my eyes away from the clean mid-century inspired design of the second option.
Which bedside table is your favorite?

Loving: Plage Dining Table

I’ve been a fan of the iconic tulip table for years and when I discovered that the Plage dining table comes in a variety of bright, cheery colors I was in love. If you are looking to infuse a dose of color in your dining room, why not go with a bright red, apple green or petunia yellow table?
If your decor is more traditional, the Plage table also comes in solid wood including: walnut, oak, cherry and beech.

Available in diameters of 130cm, 150cm or 200cm, the 200cm table is huge – you can seat at least 10!
